Communication
Practise listening with attention, speaking about what matters and helping another person think through a difficult conversation.
ListeningEmpathyTrust
What the group will do
A sensory awareness walk and paired listening exercises help participants slow down and notice more. The group then explores two possible responses to a real communication dilemma, practising clear summaries and thoughtful questions.
Respond in the moment, build on other people’s ideas and lead without a script. A lively session for practising commitment and teamwork.
TeamworkAdaptabilityPlayfulness
What the group will do
Object transformations, RECIPE charades and improvised scenes get everyone contributing. Participants explore how accepting an idea and adding to it can help a team respond when the next step is uncertain.
Turn shared values into a team name, slogan and logo through FFI’s collaborative decision process, Wishping.
Shared valuesDecision makingCreativity
What the group will do
Participants identify the values that matter to their group, explore different suggestions and make shared decisions. The resulting identity gives the team something practical to carry into the rest of its time together.
Explore your usual response to conflict and discover when different approaches help or hinder a team.
ConflictSelf awarenessCommunication
What the group will do
Animal archetypes make conflict strategies easier to discuss. Participants create a personal hybrid animal, explain their choices and consider how the team can work with different responses to disagreement.
Build connections and agree how your group wants to share its space, time and responsibilities.
ConnectionShared agreementsResponsibility
What the group will do
A visual map of shared experiences opens conversation about what connects the group and where people differ. Participants turn communication agreements into practical commitments for how they will live and work together.
Explore what makes each person unique, what the group shares and which qualities participants want to develop.
Self awarenessBelongingEmpathy
What the group will do
Reflection, a simple exercise with oranges and a creative body outline help participants explore the labels they receive and the choices they can make. This outline works best with a group that already knows each other somewhat.
Map significant experiences from the past and possibilities for the future, using creativity to explore resilience and empathy.
ResilienceCreativityPersonal goals
What the group will do
Facilitators model their own life maps before participants make a visual map with a RECIPE key. Sharing and future mapping help the group connect lived experience with the qualities and direction each person wants to develop.
Explore the connection between thoughts, feelings and actions, then practise choosing a more balanced thought and a useful next step.
ReflectionResiliencePractical thinking
What the group will do
Using the CBT model as an educational tool, participants identify an unhelpful thought pattern and work through a thought detective exercise. Reflection can stay private; an optional pair share focuses on a balanced thought or a new action.
Help children build an imaginary backpack of helpful thoughts, healthy actions and caring people for difficult days.
ChildrenHelpful thoughtsSupport networks
What the group will do
Teen leaders gather the children’s ideas on colourful cards, explore everyday situations through a backpack challenge and support each child to make a personal worksheet. Discuss the children’s ages, group size and suitable facilitation before arranging delivery.
Delivery in the outline: Teen led, with adult support.
Practise making meaningful connections with people beyond your group, from a first introduction to a thoughtful team conversation.
ConversationCommunityConfidence
What the group will do
Participants work on active listening, follow up questions and an authentic 30 second introduction. Role play and group discussion help everyone contribute while representing themselves with warmth and intention.
Start speaking early, work with nerves and find the personal story at the centre of a message that matters.
ConfidenceStorytellingPublic speaking
What the group will do
Short speaking activities and paired questioning help participants identify why a subject matters to them and begin a speech outline. The revised outline is a virtual session; discuss preparation before your stay or a suitable adaptation with the team.
Delivery in the outline: Virtual preparation session.
Practise a speech and learn how to give specific feedback that helps another person improve.
FeedbackPracticeListening
What the group will do
The group explores useful feedback, then participants deliver their speeches and receive observations about content and delivery. This works as a follow on session once participants have a draft to practise.
Bring a shared experience to a thoughtful close and decide what participants want to take into the next part of their lives.
ReflectionConnectionNext steps
What the group will do
Participants reflect on moments that shaped their experience, recognise what they value in one another and write to their future selves. The session is designed for the end of a programme or residential.
No workshops match those choices. Try another focus or search term.
